How a question at Harvard turned into a mission to bring STEM to every child.
We're three Nigerian women who met at Harvard during a summer program. For the first time, we saw what happens when kids get into STEM early. The labs, the mentors, the careers we'd never even thought about.
It changed everything.
But we also realized something: so many kids never get that chance, simply because no one showed them the path. We asked ourselves: "What if we had these opportunities earlier? And how can we give that to other kids?"
That question became STEM Starts With Us. We set out to bring hands-on STEM education to kids who don't always get the chance. Through kits, storybooks, workshops, and eventually podcasts and mentorship, we're working to make sure every child can see themselves in STEM.
STEM Starts With Us, and "us" is bigger than the three of us. It's parents who want more for their children. Teachers who go the extra mile. Mentors who share their journey. Communities that come together. STEM starts with all of us.
If we had these opportunities earlier, imagine what's possible when every kid does.- The Founders, STEM Starts With Us
Kids can't be what they can't see. We make sure every child finds someone who looks like them in STEM.
Learning should feel like play. We bring STEM to life through experiments, stories, and hands-on discovery.
It takes a village. Parents, teachers, mentors, and neighbors, we build STEM together.
She designs the STEM experiences behind everything we do, making sure every kit, book, and workshop sparks real curiosity.
She keeps everything running, from logistics to partnerships, making sure our programs reach the kids who need them most.
She gets the word out and connects us with communities, partners, and supporters who believe in what we're doing.
This is just the beginning. Help us bring STEM to more kids who need it. Every contribution, every share, every conversation makes a difference.
